The simple plot of this movie is about boy named Miguel, who is an aspiring young musician who dreams of emulating his idol, the great Ernesto de la Cruz in spite of his family’s generation’s long ban on any form of music. An accidental event on the sacred “Day of the Dead” magically transports Miguel to the vibrant underworld of the “Land of the Dead”. 
 
Now for the true beautiful meaning of this cartoon: As we follow Miguel through his extraordinary journey in the “Land of the Dead”, we begin to understand the significance of the sacred “Day of the Dead” which is not very different from the Chinese festival Qing Ming 清明节. In his attempt to get home before sunrise, Miguel not only gets the opportunity to meet his ancestors but he also begins to appreciate the importance of family.  His journey leads him to an unexpected truth about his family history bringing us through an emotional roller coaster ride of love, hate, death, betrayal and of course music!
