2019 is the Year of the Pig starting from Feb. 5, 2019 (i.e. Chinese New Year) to Jan. 24, 2020. The Pig is the twelfth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac sign.

According to Chinese legend, the Jade Emperor commanded that the order of the zodiac signs in the calendar, would be decided by the order in which the animals arrived at his party. The Pig was late because it overslept. People have often mistakenly associated pigs with gluttony and laziness. Contrary to that people born in the year of the Pig have a beautiful personality and are blessed with good fortune in life. In Chinese culture, pigs are the symbol of wealth. Their chubby faces and big ears are considered signs of good fortune.
