You Must Be Barking Mad!

The Year of the Dog is considered popular because of the dog’s bark??? Here’s why. The barking sound of the dog is phonetically written in Chinese as 汪汪 (wāng wāng), which also sounds the same as 旺(wàng), but in a different tone. 旺(wàng) means “prosperous or lucky. Hence, when you hear a dog barking at you, it’s actually wishing you good fortune!

Talk about a play on words. So wishing all of you:

汪汪汪 (wāng wāng wāng) for 旺旺旺(wàng wàng wàng)!

A great prosperous year to look forward to. Happy Chinese New Year!
