春龙节 Spring Dragon Festival (Bilingual)

Simplified Chinese Characters and Pinyin with English translation. Bilingual Mandarin Chinese Storybook (24 Pages).

春 龙 节 (chūn lóng jié) or the Spring Dragon Festival falls on the second day of the second month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is more widely known by the idiomatic phrase 二月二,龙抬头 (Èr yuè èr lóng tái tóu) which literal translation means "On the second day of the second month, the dragon lifts his head" i.e. the day when the dragon looks up.

The history of the festival dates back many centuries. Ancient Chinese people believed that on the second day of the second month of the Chinese lunar calendar (which incidentally coincides with the start of spring), the Dragon King, of the heavens, awakens from his winter hibernation to bless the earth with rainfall. People celebrate this day as a mark of respect for the Dragon King, praying for rain, and a good harvest for the year.

This book tells the story of 春龙节 or the Spring Dragon Festival in simple sentences in Mandarin Chinese with pinyin which will help children at the intermediate level to read by themselves and for reading aloud with beginners new to the language.
