重阳节 (Chóng yang jié), Chongyang Festival is also known as the Double Ninth Festival as it is held on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. As "double ninth" (九九) has the same phonetic tone as the word 久久 (jiǔ jiǔ) which means "forever," ancestors are worshipped on that day. Hence, the Double Ninth Festival is also known as the Senior Citizens’ Festival, a day for the younger generation to show their appreciation and respect of the elderly.
